A monthly scratch night curated and produced by Pathway Theatre, showcasing five pieces of new writing by a selection of the core writers and guest writers.
The idea for Hatch & Scratch came from the 'How to Write a Play' podcast with Mike Bartlett from the Old Fire Station, Oxford. It's all about hatching exciting new ideas and scratching them with some of the best directors and performers around.
With monthly pieces from Rachelle Grubb, Lauren Donoghue, Tom Hartwell and Kelly Long, HATCH & SCRATCH wants to encourage consistent practice and performance for writers, while offering a regular opportunity for actors and directors to work. Each month, special guest writers will join with a view to widening our creative circles expanding creative vision and collaboration
NEXT HATCH & SCRATCH DATE
To take part in Hatch & Scratch as an actor or director, please email your spotlight link or directing CV to the below email.
We build the companies each month from a database, which includes a spotlight link and contact email for each creative. If an actor or director is suitable for a piece, a member of the Hatch & Scratch team will be in touch via email to availability check you.
We usually don't put out open castings due to the short turn-around each month.
We'll acknowledge receipt of your details and that we've added you to the database. You may not be contacted immediately but we are building new companies every month.
We're always open for writing submission. We ask that the piece runs between ten and fifteen minutes, strictly no longer than fifteen. There is no theme or limit to what you can submit. It can be a short, or a stand-alone extract from a longer piece. We encourage writers to submit something that they will benefit from seeing on it's feet.
Once we receive your writing, we'll add it to our reading list. From there, we will either get in touch to give some feedback and suggestions on how the piece could develop or let you know that we'd like to programme it as part of one of our nights.
We'll acknowledge receipt of your submission, but you might not hear from us on the outcome straight away. We want to reassure that, not immediately being programmed on the following Hatch & Scratch date does not mean your submission hasn't been chosen for programming.
